Greek feeder containership owner Contships Logistics has secured two new charter deals with CMA CGM and Ocean Network Express (ONE), adding contracted employment as it prepares for an extensive fleet renewal programme.

The Nikolas Pateras-led company disclosed in its third-quarter earnings report that the Contship Sky had been renewed with CMA CGM at $16,250 per day for 11 to 13 months.

A separate fixture covers the Contship Way, which has been chartered to ONE for 21 to 24 months at $16,500 per day. The company did not specify the exact commencement dates of the two fixtures.

Contships has been securing longer employment for its feeder tonnage while reducing exposure to older vessels through disposals.

The group sold five containerships during the first nine months of 2026 for gross proceeds of $59m, leaving a fleet of 27 owned vessels at the end of September.

The latest agreements come as Contships prepares to move into newbuilding ownership on a much larger scale.

In October, the company signed a letter of intent with China’s Hubei Guangji Green Energy Shipbuilding covering 10 firm 1,324 teu containerships, with two further sets of 10 options.

The programme, already covered by Splash, would potentially exceed the size of Contships’ existing fleet if all options were exercised.

The company said its contracted charter revenue backlog stood at $205.8m as of its latest reporting reference date, adjusted for subsequent developments.

Contships also disclosed that it was evaluating financing alternatives for the newbuildings, with no final arrangement yet agreed.
