A new Singapore-based container shipping company headed by former SeaLead executives has entered the liner trades with a service connecting India, Pakistan and Egypt’s Red Sea coast.
Jade Pacific Line (JPL), established in April this year, has deployed the 1,100 teu Medkon Sia on a rotation linking Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Karachi and Sokhna before returning to Mundra.
According to liner consultancy Linerlytica, the service commenced on September 25 and operates on an irregular 30- to 35-day rolling schedule rather than a fixed weekly frequency. The operation provides a direct connection between two of India’s largest container gateways, Pakistan’s principal port and Egypt’s Sokhna, which serves the Suez Canal corridor and the Egyptian hinterland.
JPL is affiliated with Chinese-linked container operators Ocean Silk Line (OSL) and OVP Shipping, with OSL holding a 30% stake in the newly established company.
