Marine Insurance Broker
New

An independent marine insurance brokerage is looking to appoint a commercially minded Marine Insurance Broker to join its team in Dubai. The business provides specialist marine insurance broking services across Hull & Machinery (H&M), Protection & Indemnity (P&I) and War Risks, working directly with shipowners and key participants in the international marine insurance market.

This is a hands on, relationship led opportunity for someone who understands the marine insurance market and wants to build a career in broking. You will work closely with experienced brokers, develop relationships with shipowners and London market contacts and contribute to new business development.

The opportunity would suit a marine claims professional looking to move into a more commercial role, someone with practical maritime experience and a background in marine insurance or an existing broker looking to develop their career within an independent brokerage.

What’s on Offer?

  • Competitive expatriate package: Salary and benefits include salary, accommodation support, a car allowance and flights home.
  • Career development: The opportunity to move into marine broking or build on existing broking experience.
  • Direct client exposure: Work closely with shipowners and experienced brokers in a hands-on, commercially focused environment.
  • International opportunity: Relocate to Dubai and develop your career in an established international maritime hub.
  • An independent working environment: Join a close knit team where initiative, personality and relationship building are valued.
  • Long term progression: Develop your market relationships, commercial expertise and potential to take on greater responsibility as the business grows.
  • Location: Dubai, UAE
Package: Competitive salary plus expatriate benefits

About You

We are looking for someone with marine insurance knowledge, commercial instinct and the personality to build lasting relationships in the shipping industry. Technical knowledge is important, but so too is the confidence to meet new people, engage naturally with shipowners and develop commercial opportunities.

You may have a background in H&M or P&I claims, marine surveying, practical maritime operations or marine insurance broking. What matters is your understanding of the industry, your motivation to develop commercially and your ability to build trust with clients.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Relevant marine experience: Approximately 3–5 years of experience in marine claims, H&M, P&I or a related marine insurance or maritime discipline.
  • London market experience: Previous dealings with the London marine insurance market, including Lloyd’s syndicates, underwriters, P&I clubs or established marine insurance contacts.
  • Commercial ambition: A genuine interest in moving into marine broking, developing client relationships and contributing to business growth.
  • Confidence and charisma: Excellent communication skills, an engaging personality and the ability to meet shipowners, build rapport and hold informed conversations about ships, trading activities and vessel operations.
  • Self-motivation and grit: A proactive approach to networking, meeting clients and developing opportunities, with the drive to take ownership of your professional development.
  • Maritime understanding: Practical knowledge of shipping operations, ideally including tankers, dry bulk or relevant vessel experience. Seagoing experience or marine surveying would be advantageous.
  • Qualifications: A good academic background is desirable. Progress towards the ACII qualification would be an advantage, particularly for candidates with five or more years of relevant experience.

Previous broking experience is beneficial but not essential. Candidates with the right marine insurance knowledge, London market exposure, personality and commercial potential will be considered.

Interested? If you have experience in marine insurance or claims, established exposure to the London marine market and the confidence and motivation to build relationships with shipowners, we would welcome a confidential conversation about this opportunity.

Please reach out with your cv and we will phone you for a chat to discuss this further, we will not make an application without discussing the company name with you!
